Working to power over 14,500 homes with clean, secure, renewable energy, while supporting nature and providing lasting benefits for the local community.
In the UK, we need to generate large amounts of renewable energy to help ensure energy security and to combat climate change. Published in November 2024, Clean Power 2030¹ proposes a trebling of solar energy generation from 15 GW to 47 GW by 2030. The government’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan² seeks to enhance energy security by increasing "homegrown" renewable energy production, such as solar, aiming to reduce reliance on expensive gas imports. By increasing domestic clean energy sources to meet the UK's electricity demand, the plan seeks to build a more stable and secure energy system that is less vulnerable to international price volatility and supply disruptions.
To meet the government’s net zero and climate change targets as set out in Make Britain a Clean Energy Superpower (2024)³, boosting our solar energy capacity is essential. The proposed River Trent Solar Farm would would help North Lincolnshire Council enact its Climate Action Plan, a key aim of which is to enable the development of strategic low-carbon infrastructure to support the transition away from fossil fuels.”
Qualitas Energy will apply for planning permission for River Trent Solar Farm to North Lincolnshire Council. We anticipate that our application will be submitted in March 2026 following engagement and consultation with the local community.

Who is Qualitas Energy?
Qualitas Energy is a leading global investment and management platform with a dual focus on both funding and developing renewable energy, energy transition, and sustainable infrastructure.
Committed to being a force for good, Qualitas Energy will be engaging closely with the local community over the coming months as the plans progress.
This includes seeking a deeper understanding of local needs and priorities to shape a meaningful legacy for the project through the delivery of a community benefit fund.
This website provides you with further information about the proposals and the ability to have your say by providing feedback via the consultation website. There is also an opportunity to sign up to our Community Benefit Fund workshop (scheduled for February 2026).
Ongoing engagement
The project is still in its early stages, and we are committed to open and meaningful community engagement throughout the process. We have already consulted local councillors and stakeholders living near the proposed site, and we would like to hear your views. You are invited to share your feedback in the following ways:
By coming to our public exhibition on Monday 1 December 2025 from 3pm to 7.30pm.
This will be held at Messingham Community Hub, 1 Wendover Road, Messingham DN17 3SN.
At the exhibition you can view our plans, learn more about our proposals and speak directly with members of the project team. This is intended to give the community an opportunity to understand our plans and provide valuable feedback on the proposal.
By joining our interactive webinar on Wednesday 3 December 2025 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm
This will take place online. You can register by clicking here.
Please do let us now if you have any questions in advance.By filling out the online feedback form before midnight on Saturday 6 December 2025, which can be found on have your say page.
Why solar?
Solar panels rely on the sun’s light and produce power throughout the year. Only a small proportion (0.3%) of UK land is required to meet UK Government net zero targets.
Solar panels do not prevent farm activity completely, as animals including sheep can graze on land also occupied by solar panels – providing an additional benefit for farmers.
Solar farms can be used to help to support a range of plants and wildlife. Research has identified that solar farms can play a key role in supporting pollinators such as bees by providing opportunities to create different habitats.
Solar development helps farmers by providing another stable source of income, helping to secure the viability of farms. Similarly, giving land a break from farming during the lifetime of a solar development improves local soil quality.
